Using the Loos Gauge Ensure that the backstay is completely slackened off. Ensure that there is no tension on any of the halyards. Obtain a tuning guide from your sailmaker and use it as a benchmark at all times. Make a copy of tension guide, laminate it and keep on board. Helpful Hints and Tricks Keep your boat simple with a clean deck layout. Mark your sheeting positions. Mark all halyards and sheets. Focus more on sailing the boat and less on the technical side. Vessel weight as well as crew weight is a critical factor for optimum performance.
